THE dale’s art lovers turned out in force for the opening of a showcase exhibition in Barnard Castle.
Work by the 30 members of Teesdale ArtNet has gone on view at The Witham to coincide with the group’s autumn open studios event, which begins this week.
The exhibition features a host of different styles and media, with the proceeds from selected pieces of work being donated to the arts centre in its ongoing efforts to alleviate a shortage of cash.
The open studios event began on Friday, October 19 and sees 22 of Teesdale’s artists welcoming people into their workshops.
As part of the event, a series of bus tours to studios has been organised for Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27.
A programme of workshops has also been lined up offering people the chance to try their hand at everything from landscape painting and pottery to printing and creating accessories.
A booklet has been produced by the group giving times and details of all open studios and associated activities along with full details of all the artists taking part.
Alternatively, details are available online at www.teesdaleartnet.org.uk.
Meanwhile, the exhibition at The Witham continues until Saturday, November 3. It is open 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and admission is free.
