Young Farmers Clubs rally full of high spirits and great fun
The best day of the year. That’s the verdict of the County Durham Federation of Young Farmers Clubs following its hugely successful 2026 rally.
The event took place last weekend and was hosted by Staindrop Young Farmers Club at Hopewell Farm, Piercebridge.
A federation spokesman said: “What an incredible day! Rally Day 2026 has been an absolute blast. It’s amazing to see the whole county come together for what truly is the best day of the year.
“The competition, teamwork and team spirit on display throughout the day was fantastic.
“A huge thank you to Davinia (Walton) and Bob (Morrell) for providing such a brilliant venue, and to Rachel Dent and the Staindrop Rally Committee for organising such a successful and enjoyable rally.
“Congratulations to all the clubs involved – you should all be proud.”
The rally is an action-packed day of competitions and events including welly wanging and sheep shearing.
Other activities included riding a rodeo bull, a tug-of-war competition and tractor handling.
Young Farmers clubs from across County Durham attended.
Rachel Dent, of Staindrop Young Farmers, helped organise the rally.
She said: “A big thank you goes to everyone who has contributed to making the day a success, to all of our judges and stewards who have generously given up their time and to all the businesses who have kindly sponsored our day.”
