Academy team to tackle four peaks challenge for Prostate Cancer UK

Middleton-in-Teesdale Academy is teaming up with Browney Academy to tackle a four peaks challenge to raise cash for Prostate Cancer UK.

Last year the team successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peak challenge, but are this year moving their focus to the Lake District.

The group well attempt to summit Scarfell Pike and three other Wainwright peaks as well.

The challenge takes place on Saturday, June 13, and before they have even reached the start line, they have already raised £475.

A spokesman said: “We’re heading to the Lake District to take on a Four Peaks Challenge – including England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike, along with three surrounding Wainwrights. It’s going to be steep, tough, and a mega challenge for us.

“We’re doing this to raise as much money as possible for Prostate Cancer, and to help spread awareness of the signs and symptoms along the way.

“As many of us have had friends and family affected by prostate cancer in recent years, this cause means a great deal to us.

“Any donation would be hugely appreciated and will spur us on as we tackle yet another challenge for such an important cause.”

A spokesman for Prostate Cancer UK said: “Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer.

“Through shifting the science over the next ten years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.”
