TABLE-topping Lands claimed their first piece of silverware of the season with victory in the B division cup final.

In what turned out to be a low scoring affair at Darlington RA’s ground, Lands defended an all out total of just 96.

That the side almost reached three figures was thanks in no small part to Jonathan Milroy who top scored with 34, a knock that included two fours and two sixes.

All the Richmond bowlers performed well, with Max Percival proving especially tricky to get away. His five overs cost just 16 runs and he picked up three wickets.

There were three wickets for Rhys Mowbray, while Joe White and Marcus Griffiths took two each.

Lands couldn’t have wished for a better start when they took to the field as the Richmond openers were both removed for a duck thanks to Lewis Leng and Kieran Brown.

None of the batsmen got in as Brown, Leng and Ryan Matthews each collected two wickets and Michael Crane chipped in with 1-11 from his five overs.

With the scoring rate mounting, the Richmond batsmen resorted to desperate measures, which resulted in three run outs.

In the end, Lands ran out comfortable winners and skipper Craig Talbot accepted the trophy from league president Brian Jones.

Lands remain unbeaten in the B division so far this season.

They are currently 18 points ahead of Spennymoor at the top of the B division with a game in hand and will hope to continue the run of good form and secure promotion to the A Division.
