The man who robbed a Barnard Castle petrol station has been warned he faces a substantial custodial sentence.
Matthew Reece Howe, 30, of Cockfield, appeared at Durham Crown Court via a video link today.
He pleaded guilty to two robberies at the Penny on the Move store at the BP garage at junction of the A67 and the A688 close to Teesdale School.
Howe was remanded in custody until May 28, when he will be sentenced.
Judge Anthony Dunne told the defendant that, although he would receive credit for pleading guilty at the first opportunity, “there is going to be a substantial custodial sentence for these offences.”
The petrol station was targeted twice in five days, with Howe admitting to robberies on March 30 and April 3 this year.
