We are looking for a dynamic hands-on editor to lead an experienced team at the Teesdale Mercury newspaper, based in Barnard Castle.

The Mercury is a weekly title with a proud record of reporting on the things which matter to its loyal readership.

This is a time of exciting development for the Mercury, which has now become part of Barrnon Media, a well-established family-owned business which also publishes the Cumberland & Westmorland Herald and The Keswick Reminder, as well as Cumbria Crack, the county’s premier digital breaking news platform.

We are planning for the future and looking for an individual with the experience and drive to lead the Teesdale Mercury to its next chapter.

You will take a leading role in running the day-to-day news agenda and page design, and work within the wider company to make the most of campaigns and commercial opportunities.

Our ideal candidate would already be working as an editor, or could be a experienced senior reporter looking for the next step up.
