TCR Hub becomes dementia friendly

TUCK IN: Karen Briggs

STAFF and volunteers at TCR Hub, in Barnard Castle, have completed dementia friendly training with the Alzheimer’s Society.

Vicky Taylor, events manager at The Hub, said: “Many of us have had personal experience of supporting a loved one living with dementia. As a community venue it’s important to The Hub team that everyone who comes here feels welcome and included. We are delighted to be given the status of a Dementia Friendly Venue which also involved a site visit.”

Each Monday The Hub hosts games for the brain sessions run by the Alzheimer’s Society. There is also transport to help people access the group. The team hosted a cupcake day last week to help raise funds towards the Alzheimer’s Society.

“I am delighted to say we raised £244 thanks to overwhelming support from our wonderful volunteers,” said Ms Taylor.
