Rose Interiors opens in Barnard Castle
The latest shop to open on The Bank in Barnard Castle is a new chapter for a familiar face in the town.
Alice Tierney opened Rose Interiors earlier this month, promising a bespoke design service that can tackle anything from paint consultations to full-on rebuilds.
Many will know her from a decade working at Niche, where she ran the interior side of the business.
It’s a job that has been a lifelong passion.
“I’ve always been very arty,” Alice said. “I did a degree in production design for stage and screen and as I did costumes, I had a lot of work with fabrics.”
The emphasis is very much on quality and there’s a committed team of three seamstresses and an upholsterer working to bring designs to reality.
“Karen, who does most of the curtains and all of the cushions, has been doing this for longer than I’ve been alive,” said Alice.
“So has Anthony, our upholsterer. Then Sarah, who makes all my blinds, is probably the most meticulous person I’ve ever met.
“Christine, our overflow seamstress, is a sweetheart; whenever I need help she drops everything to do it.”
Rose Interiors has already established itself in The Bank’s community of shops.
“It’s lovely to see people here, dropping in to wish us luck. There’s definitely a community here. A lot of people from the other shops have popped in.
“I knew Lizzie from Lamb’s Lobe before I moved in, Fleur from Freja’s House has been an absolute sweetheart.
“The girls from the Butty Market came over, Elizabeth Chamberlain from the jewellers’ popped in, so did Roy and Rima from The Old Well Inn.”
