On yer bike Putin… Cycle raffled off for Ukraine

UKRAINE CASH: Pauline Connelly with Lois Marley pick out winner for bike raffle TM pic

A RAFFLE of a bike raised £200 to help support those affected by the war in Ukraine.
The fundraiser was launched by Connelly’s Toy Shop, in Barnard Castle,
Pauline Connelly had been gifted a bike she once sold as a Christmas present to Lois Marley, of Blagraves, on The Bank, opposite to the shop.
Ms Marley, who along with her family is moving out of the landmark restaurant following its sale, decided the bike could be put to good use.
Ms Connelly said: “We had lots of people coming in and buying tickets but saying they didn’t really want the bike, they just wanted to help, so we may have to have another raffle if the winner doesn’t want it.”
The raffle, which ran for two weeks was drawn on Friday, April 1, and was won by Cathy Hughes.
The money will be used to purchase essential items such as bandages and first aid equipment which will be sent over with a convoy heading out to the war-torn country.
