A GRATEFUL dad has jumped 15,000ft from an aeroplane to raise more than £1,000 for the medics who saved his daughter’s life three times.
Michael England almost lost both his partner Anna Leathley and their daughter Millie in 2021 when she was born 13 weeks premature.
Millie, who has cerebral palsy, suffered from a twisted bowel at birth and was saved from dangerous infections three times.
Mr England made his first ever skydive at Peterlee earlier this month in aid of the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust Charity to say thank you.
The cash will be used to help create a facility at Darlington Memorial Hospital for women who suffer miscarriages.
Mr England, who runs the Mille Moos Roasts catering van, in his home village of Winston, said £1,067 has been raised.
He added: “I still want to raise more if I can. The more people who donate the better, however small it will be much appreciated.”
The aeroplane jump took place at Sky-High Skydiving, at Shotten Colliery’s airfield.
Mr England said: “I wasn’t nervous whatsoever. I would definitely do it again.
“It lasts about five minutes and it is free falling for about a minute.
“They pull the parachute at 5,000ft, so you are free-falling for about 10,000ft. It was literally incredible.”
From his lofty vantage point he was able to see Darlington, Sunderland and Newcastle.
The caterer hopes to complete a second charity jump within a year.
