A BARNARD Castle jewellery shop was tranformed into a children’s art gallery after organising a colouring competition.
Market Cross Jewellers, on Horsemarket, invited pupils from Green Lane, Montalbo and Barnard Castle Prep schools to take part in a competition to produce artwork related to Steiff teddy bears.
The work was judged by dale artist and gallery owner Sandra Parker who selected Kate Harris and Sophia Payne, of Green Lane; Libby Gilbert, from Barnard Castle Prep; and Olivia Callaghan, from Montalbo, as winners of the competition.
They each won Steiff Soft and Cuddly Honey Bears and had their artwork framed by Sandra Parker Studios in recognition of their talent.
Ms Parker said: “What a marvellous competition. Wth such fantastic imagination. I could have chosen lots of winners so congratulations to everyone who took part.
Steiff bears are renowned worldwide for their trademark button which is sewn into each ear.
