Flower guild celebrates a successful year

PARTY TIME: Members of the St Mary's Flower Guild

St Mary’s Flower Guild
MEMBERS gathered for their annual meeting and dinner at the Old Well Inn on Wednesday, March 11.
Thirteen members were present with three apologies received. The ladies enjoyed a delicious meal followed by coffee. June Wherry – as always – provided a fun quiz which tested memories and knowledge.
Officers elected were: chairman: J Kemp-Ambler; treasurer: J Kemp-Ambler; secretary: J Wherry; publicity officer: I Hillery.
The treasurer reported that, after expenses, the flower guild had made a good contribution to church funds thanks to donations of flowers from members and the congregation as well as income from Easter lilies, Christmas wreaths, memorial pedestals and weddings. Plans for the coming year include the annual Easter lilies display – sponsorship forms are available in Church – and a trip to Thornton Hall to see the lovely gardens.
Dates for preparation of Easter lilies and the fortnightly rota were agreed at the meeting and will be published shortly by the secretary.
The chairman thanked officers and members for their hard work throughout the year.
Anyone interested in joining the flower guild at St Mary’s should contact the secretary June Wherry on 01833 638423.
New members are always welcome and leaflets providing more information about the flower guild and also about sponsoring memorial flowers are available in church.
