Erica runs to the aid of cancer charity

FUNDRAISER: Erica Dixon has put on her running shoes for her next charity challenge

FUNDRAISER Erica Dixon is swapping her swimming costume for running shoes for her next adventure.
For the past three years Erica, from Lartington, has taken part in swimathons at Teesdale Leisure Centre, in Barnard Castle, raising cash for Marie Curie.
However, this year she has decided to try something a little different to help the charity and will be taking part in the Great North Run on September 12.
Erica, who volunteers at the Marie Curie shop, in Barnard Castle, said: “It’s the first time I’ll be doing this and I’m really nervous. I might have to walk some of the way. I asked my coaches for some advice and they said I should enter the Darlington 10K as well.”
In November she raised £200 for Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK by completing a five-kilometre swimathon which had been delayed due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
But she is hoping to raise double that amount by completing the Great North Run and has been out and about in town with her sponsorship form.
