KIND-hearted staff at Middleton Care brought a little extra cheer across the dale when they put together special Christmas afternoon tea boxes for clients.
The care provider normally invites clients to a Christmas party, but were unable to do so this year. However, care staff decided to take the party to their clients. In their free time Denise Coll, Marie Scown, Louise Metcalfe, Diana Nicholson and Yvonne Metcalfe at the village’s Masonic Hall put together about 100 party boxes filled with treats including mince pies, quiches and sandwiches before delivering them across the dale for clients to enjoy at home. Ms Metcalfe said: “We normally have a party at the Masonic Hall and everyone really enjoys it. Alison Sayer usually whips up a lovely meal and then we have a singer to entertain.
“With Covid we couldn’t do it but we wanted to do something to lift everyone’s spirits.
“We just thought we would treat our clients to a Christmas afternoon high tea to brighten their day. Gingers crossed, with the vaccine coming, we might be able to get the back to some sort of normal in the new year.
“We really have to thank Alan Thompson for letting us use the hall and to our community who are so generous. Special thanks to Wendy Allison Dixon, Michelle Armitage, G&J Newsagents and Gillian Robinson from Morrisons.”
