Animator’s film records Barney’s mini-Meet parade for posterity

THE streets may have been much quieter this year without the traditional parade, but the Barnard Castle Meet was marked in miniature.
After organisers decided to cancel the traditional Meet, staff at the TCR Hub came up with the idea of making models of the floats which would normally been seen snaking their way through the town.
Workshops were held at The Hub in the weeks leading up to Whit week, with schools and town charity The Clique also joining in.
Animator Sheryl Jenkins was called in and came up with a ten-minute film featuring the models and the voices of town crier Ian Kirkbride and resident John Emerson, who reminisced about past Meets.
The models have now been displayed in high street stores and a competition has been launched by toy shop owner Pauline Connelly for shoppers and visitors to find them all – with the chance of winning a £10 gift voucher.
To enter, simply pick up a form from Connelly’s Toy Shop and hand it back in once you have spotted all the floats around town.
To see the Mini Meet film, head to www.tcrhub.co.uk or visit TCR Facebook page. You can also find it on TCR Hub You Tube channel.
Sarah Gent, family activities co-ordinator at the TCR Hub, said she had been delighted with the response to the mini-Meet project.
