Accountants bring in a big number for cancer charity

TOP EFFORT: Darren Gee

OWNERS and staff of a dale accountancy firm handed over a cheque for more than £8,000 to the Teesdale branch of Cancer Research UK.

Butler and Gee Accountants, which is based in Newgate, Barnard Castle, has been raising funds for the Teesdale branch of Cancer Research UK for the past ten years.

The latest donation brings the total raised by the company to just short of £78,000.

Each year the company hosts a charity ball and the latest glittering event, which was held at Lartington Hall in November, brought in £8,730, thanks in part to a charity auction.

The auction had prizes including helicopter rides, supercar experiences, a week-long skiing holiday and a weekend break in a holiday cottage.

Butler and Gee owner Chris Butler said: “We just want to thank all our friends and customers who have helped us raise this money as without them we wouldn’t have been able to do it.

“Also I’d like to thank Barclays Bank who match funded £1,000 of the money and of course to John and Shona Wilkes at Lartington Hall for putting on such a great do. We’ll be doing it all again at some point later in the year, but for now we just want to say thank you to all who helped.

“Darren, Lisa and everyone here at Butler and Gee think Cancer Research UK is such a great cause and one we are really proud to support.”
