Clive’s shearling ram sells for £38,000 at annual SSBA sale

STAND OUT: The shearling ram which sold for £38

A LARTINGTON farmer is celebrating after his shearling tup netted him £38,000 at the Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association’s annual ram sale at Kirkby Stephen.
It is the second time in as many years that Clive Dent, from Naby View Farm, has had success at the sale, having sold another ram for £35,000 in 2019.
His latest offering is the offspring of a ram he bought from Richard Harker, of Grey Rigg Hall, Kendal, two years ago. He paid £35,000 for the animal.
Mr Dent said he had been expecting the ram to do well at the sale.
He added: “He is a very big tup with a big head. He is so much bigger than the others.”
Another shearling ram from Mr Dent’s flock was crowned champion at Bowes Show in September.
