Champion shows plenty of potential

THE annual classic show and sale of potential show cattle attracted and entry of 584.

Topping the sale at £5,800 was the overall champion, a ten-month-old Limousin cross heifer which was sired by Hightown Jako from Messrs Smith-Jackson, Hightown, Haltwhistle, and was bought by A Ewing, Annan, on behalf of a customer.

The judge, Alistair Twell, Kettering, Northants, awarded the reserve championship to a nine-month-old Limousin cross steer from Messrs Sedgley, Low Bank House, Barbon, which went on to sell for £1,500 to the judge. The second highest price of £5,000 was achieved for the second placed eight-month-old Plumtree Fantastic sired Black Limousin heifer from Messrs Marston, Easegill Head, which went on to sell to Messrs Dickinson, Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

An eight-month-old pure Limousin heifer sold for £3,500 from Messrs Hill, Whitewall Farm, Great Asby, to Messrs Nisbet, Sorn Mains, Mauchline, Ayrshire.
