Tickets on sale for Castle Players’ latest show

EXPERT HELP: Make up artist Larrisa demonstrates the make up style on one of the Dromio twins

TICKETS for The Castle Players’ summer production of The Comedy of Errors went on sale this week.
Preparations for the show, which will be staged in July, are continuing with the help of two make-up artists to create two sets of identical twins.
Thanks to a generous donation from the late Castle Players icon Andrew Stainthorpe, professional make-up artists Larrisa and Josephine took the cast and crew through their paces at Startforth Community Centre.
The talented pair showed the Players how to create and apply a striking stylised make-up design inspired by the comedy legends of the silent movie era.
Production director Gordon Duffy-McGhie said, “Shakespeare’s inspiration for the play was the Roman comedies of Plautus.
“Our production pays homage to the comic greats of the silent movies, whose knock-about slapstick routines drew on the same traditions.
“We hope our audiences enjoy our rich comic offering and characters lifted straight from the silver screen.”
The Comedy of Errors will be performed on the back lawn of The Bowes Museum for five nights from Tuesday, July 5, to Saturday, July 9.
Sadly, the usual grandstand seating will not be available this year so people are urged to bring their own chairs.
Tickets will be available from 10am on Wednesday, May 4, from The Witham box office either online at the witham.org.uk, by phone 01833 631107, or in person 10am – 4pm Tuesday to Saturday.
