Gigs galore as performers head to Middleton-in-Teesdale

HEADLINE ACT: The duo Hungrytown will headline Friday night at the sports and social club in Middleton-in-Teesdale

ARTISTS from near and far will perform as part of a packed weekend of live music in Middleton-in-Teesdale early next month.

Dubbed the Plugged-in Acoustic Party weekend, there are three days of gigs in the village beginning Friday, September 6.

First up on the Friday night at Middleton Sports and Social Club is the folk/Americana duo Hungrytown, made up of Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson.

The pair, who hail from Vermont, USA, have been touring for the past 15 years.

Support comes from Roisin Dubh, from over the border in Cumbria and Middleton’s own Lucy Marie and Rebecca Anna, from Barnard Castle..

Admission for the gig, which starts at 7.30pm, is £5 on the door.

On Saturday evening, the music switches to the Tees ‘pot Cafe, when East Anglian folk singer Bernard Hoskin will perform.

Guests will be served a menu of Italian food. Places are limited and tickets are £15.

Then on Sunday, September 8, it’s back to the Sports and Social Club for an afternoon line-up headed by Northumberland duo We Steal Flyers.

Earlier this month, they released their fourth album, called Redefine Keys.

Among the support acts will be local duo Ethan Manders and Finlay Hunton – who are also part of the group Geriatric and the Pacemakers.

This show starts at 3pm and again, admission is £5 on the door. Advance tickets and weekend tickets (£8) are available from Mick Carr on 07818 040066.
