From Walmington-on-Sea to The Witham for comedian Kieran

ICONIC ROLE: Comedian Kieran Hodgson

A COMIC who tackled an iconic British comedy role for a TV movie is heading to Barnard Castle later this month.
Kieran Hodgson starred as Ian Lavender in We’re Doomed, The Dad’s Army Story, playing Lavender’s legendary character Private Pike in the story of how the iconic comedy show, set in the fictional town of Walmington on Sea, was first commissioned in the 1960s.
He has gone on to carve a career in stand-up, playing to large audiences, and is part of a four-strong line-up of comedians performing “in-progress” shows at The Witham on Saturday, July 31.
Kicking off the event at 5pm is Lauren Pattison and she is followed at 6.30pm by Lloyd Griffith.
Kieran Hodgson takes to the stage at 8pm and the evening concludes with Stephen Bailey at 9.30pm.
The shows have been organised by Funny Way To Be comedy and are suitable for ages 14-plus.
Promoter Peter Dixon said: “July is one of our favourite periods for booking shows. This year I am thrilled with the quality of acts that are coming to Barnard Castle.
“Every one of them has extensive TV and radio experience and would be a hot ticket at any comedy festival.
“We’ve kept the ticket price as low as possible as a thank you to all our customers for their support and to welcome them back after this difficult period.”
Tickets are £6 for each individual show. Discounted day passes to all four shows are £20. For full details and to book tickets, go to www.
