SCOTTISH folk trio Talisk will breeze into Barnard Castle this weekend as part of their biggest UK tour to date.
The show, at The Witham, will feature music from the band’s critically acclaimed second album Beyond, which was released last year.
Talisk comprises Mohsen Amini, BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Musician of the Year 2018, Hayley Keenan and Graeme Armstrong.
They have amassed a die-hard following during the last five years, been named Folk Band of the Year in 2017, received the Belhaven Bursary for Innovation in 2018 at the BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards, and collected more than 5.5 million streams online.
The trio blend concertina, fiddle and guitar to produce a sound that has entertained audiences from the USA to Australia, with appearances at events including the Cambridge Folk Festival, Denmark’s Tønder, Womad UK and Las Palmas, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Celtic Colours, Milwaukee Irish Festival and five successive outings at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections.
Mr Amini said: “November 2019 is going to be our biggest headline tour to date.
“We’re coming straight out off the back of our best summer yet, playing main stage slots at some of the most respected festivals in the genre.
“We’re travelling the length and breadth of the UK and can’t wait to hit The Witham for the first time.
“Tickets are already selling fast and we want to make sure we get to see every single one of you there – we’re excited and hope you are too Barnard Castle!”
The show takes place on Saturday, November 9. Tickets are £15 and £13 and showtime is 8pm.
