Work to improve Barnard Castle Tennis Club courts on hold

ON HOLD: Resurfacing work costing £35

RESURFACING work to a dale tennis club’s courts has begun, though it is unclear when it will be completed due to the current Covid-19 restrictions.
Barnard Castle Tennis Club, based in the grounds of The Bowes Museum, had given the green light for £35,000 resurfacing work in February.
The work, which includes weed and moss killing before the new surface can be laid, was expected to take about nine weeks to complete.
Pauline Connelly, club treasurer, said: “Lillico have started work resurfacing the tennis courts and we were going to have a big grand opening in April.
“But everything is on hold at the moment as we’re not sure if they are able to travel from Northumberland.”
