MORE than £700 was raise during a charity run to mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Some 54 runners, walkers and dog walkers took part in the sixth Woodland Triangle event at Woodland village on Sunday, October 1.
The event also coincided with organiser Tim Smith’s 80th birthday, which he celebrated during Hamsterley’s 5km Park Run, on September 23.
Previously his races have raised cash for a variety of causes, including an Addison’s Disease charity in memory of his granddaughter Elizabeth O’Dolan who died at age 23, the Child Heart Foundation, Great North Air Ambulance Service and the war effort in Ukraine.
The latest event raised £720 for Cancer Research UK.
Mr Smith said: “Part was through the sale of T-shirts and entrance fees and part through Gift Aid which was done online. I am pleased with the sum.”
