Table tennis triumph for Staindrop quartet

VICTORIOUS: Staindrop School Year 10 winners Jamie Clarke

HARD work has paid off for a Staindrop School quartet with silverware in a regional table tennis contest.

Four year 10 lads from the academy were crowned champions after winning three games and drawing one in a round robin tournament against four other schools.

The students honed their skills during PE lessons and lunch time table tennis clubs every day of the school week to prepare for the ties.

PE teacher Christopher Hughes added: “This is a fantastic achievement from the team and we are very proud of how well they played in the tournament.”

The team will now play at the next rung up at the County Level Three games in March.
