Raby Castle CC juniors off to a wining start

LINING UP: Raby Castle U13s line up before their game against Willington

Junior cricket
RS Pratt Trophy Group 2
Raby Castle 87-3
Willington 86-5

RABY’S U13 side played their first match of the 2021 cricket season at home to Willington.
On a bitterly cold and overcast Wednesday night, Raby ran out winners by seven wickets.
Captain William Poole won the toss and put the visitors in to bat first and the bowlers restricted Willington to 86 off their 20 overs.
Top scorers were B Beale with a patient 27 not out and Olivia Power, who chipped in with a useful 18.
For Raby, Ralph Hoskyns-Abrahall was the pick of the bowlers taking 2-20 in his three overs.
William Poole, Beth Poole and Joe Brookes chipped in with a wicket apiece.
In reply Raby lost their first wicket with the score on eight but then William Poole (30 not out) and Bertie Morris shared a second wicket stand of 45.
Ralph Hoskyns-Abrahall’s 15 not out along with Jake Spence (9) and debutant Harry Tellegen (5 not out) saw Raby over the line in the 17th over.
William Poole just edged out Ralph Hoskyns-Abrahall as man of the match. Wicket keeper Bertie Morris took the fielding award for a sound display which included a sharp stumping.
The U13s were back in action again this week with a trip to Evenwood for their second round robin group match in the RS Pratt Trophy.
