Muhammad makes an immediate impact

ALL ROUNDER: Pakistani pro Muhammad Yasin has joined Evenwood CC

Cricket

EVENWOOD CC’s overseas pro for this season is settling into life at the club after making an immediate impact on his arrival.

Muhammad Yasin took 8-21 against Ryhope on his debut in the Durham Cricket League and contributed 25 with the bat in a game which Evenwood won by 152 runs.

A hard-hitting left hander and medium paced swing bowler, he came to the Gaunless Valley after two seasons with Whitehaven in the North Lancs and Cumbria Cricket League.

Evenwood supporters will be hoping he replicates the form of his first season in the North West, where he scored more than 900 runs at an average of 57.44 and took 54 wickets at 11.5 runs each.

Last year, when he did not play the full season, he scored 521 runs at 32.56 and took 35 wickets at 21.43.

The 29-year-old hails from Sialkot, in Pakistan’s Punjab province, and made his first class debut in 2009.

He has played 36 first class games, mainly as a top order batsman, most recently for Pakistan TV at Rawalpindi last September.

He has played 39 list A matches and eight T20s, in which he averages 46 at a strike rate of 101.09.
