More success in the ring for boxers

STRONG SHOWING: George Peacock won his bout at Sunderland

Boxing

THERE has been further success for Barnard Castle Amateur Boxing Club members with two out of two wins, including one north of the border.

On Thursday, November 28, teenager George Peacock travelled to Sunderland for a bout against a North Star opponent.

The 14-year-old boxed well and got stronger as the bout went on and won his match.

Then on Saturday, November 30, the club’s Nathan Forrest travelled to Scotland for a Tyne, Tees and Wear select match.

The 21-year-old lined up against an “aggressive, come forward, opponent” but the dale fighter’s work to the body eventually slowed his opponent and he got the nod from the judges.

The wins are just the latest for the club, which has been going from strength to strength, since it started eight years ago.
