Mixed day for dale rally crews

TWO crews from Mickleton Service Station took part in the East Riding Stages Rally. The event was the first rally in Yorkshire to take place on closed roads, using various small farm country roads around the town of Beverley.
It was a frustrating start for Andrew Hutchinson and cousin Joe in their MTL Projects LTD sponsored Renault Clio as a clutch issue on the way to stage one, threatened to end their event before it started. Fortunately they were able to solve the issue with a quick dash to a local petrol station. This frantic rush certainly had an effect on pace and the pair were more than happy to finish each of the morning stages with no issues.
There was no lack of confidence for Alistair Hutchinson and Jordan English, they were running third in class at the lunchtime service in their Northern Energy sponsored Renault Clio. Unfortunately though, on the first stage of the afternoon they clipped the inside of a narrow bridge, snapping a ball joint and calling an end to their day.
Andrew and Joe were able to push on in the afternoon stages setting more competitive times and really enjoying the fast-flowing stages. They finished 56th of the 100 starters and eighth in class.
