Janet hotfoots it to Hart for birthday run

ON THE RUN: Members of Evenwood Road Runners at Kielder

Teesdale AC

ON September 29, club members Judith Rodwell, Mandy Harrison and Janet Stables took part in the first Hart Trail half marathon – which actually measured 15.2 miles.

Conditions were wet and challenging from the village of Hart through muddy woodland and onto the Hart to Haswell walkway, up to the old pit village of Shotton, returning through Monk Hesleden.

Judith stormed home in a fantastic 2.43.24 hours.

Janet and Mandy had trained since January for this event and is the longest they have run to date and completed in 3.56.56. They ran the event to celebrate Janet’s 50th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed it despite the really wet conditions.

On Sunday, October 20, two Teesdale runners took part in the Richmond 10k race.

Starting in the Batts riverside park area, the race was all on roads apart from a very short section on grass at the start.

Runners passed the spectacular Richmond falls on the River Swale before crossing at Green Bridge and climbing Sleegill, with fine views of Richmond Castle available.

Runners were then taken on a short circuit of Catterick Garrison before returning to Richmond and a great finish within the grounds of the castle.

David Raymond was first back for Teesdale in a time of 49.27mins followed by Linda Scandrett in 60.14.
