Jacob’s gift to club where rugby adventure started

SPECIAL SHIRT: Jacob Oliver presents his England jersey to John Lowery

RUGBY
JOHN Lowery, president of Barnard Castle RUFC, was presented with the England shirt from former junior academy player Jacob Oliver.
Jacob wore the jersey when he represented England U18s on their recent tour of South Africa, playing a prominent role in all three games.
Jacob, a Barnard Castle school sixth former and current Newcastle Falcons Academy player, started playing rugby for Barney RUFC when he was seven, turning out well into his early teens and coached along the way by John Rickard, David Forster and Aaron Breeze.
Jacob said: “I always enjoyed my rugby at the club so thought it would be only right that the club get the shirt as it where I started my rugby journey.”
Mr Lowery said: “It’s a great honour for the club to receive Jacob’s shirt and hopefully it inspires the next generation of juniors to follow in his footsteps.
