GET ACTIVE: No balls or clubs needed – frisbee -style discs are tossed at specially adapted basket ‘hole’s. A nine hole course has opened in Hamsterley Forest Pics: Forestry England

Forestry England Hamsterley is thrilled to announce the opening of their brand-new disc golf course. Nestled among the trees, the nine-hole course offers a fun new activity which is a fantastic way to spend time in the forest with friends and family.
Whether you’re a seasoned disc golfer or looking to try something new, Hamsterley’s new course has everything you need for an enjoyable and fun-packed game.
Helen Waite, active forests ranger at Forestry England Hamsterley said: “Disc golf is more than just a game, it’s a great way to get active and enjoy the outdoors.
“It’s low impact, improves coordination, and provides an opportunity to explore beautiful forest surroundings. Plus, it’s a social activity that’s perfect for bringing people together.”
To play disc golf, you simply aim and throw frisbee-style discs at fixed targets which are located at various points throughout the forest.
Much like traditional golf, the objective is to complete the course with the fewest number of throws. Fans of the activity describe it as a challenging, yet rewarding experience, that blends skill, precision, and a touch of adventure.
When you next visit Hamsterley, give it a go… Pick up discs from the visitor centre and then head out to test out your skills – you might even get a disc in one.
