Wear Valley Sunday League

Wear Valley Sunday League

TOFT Hill Three Tuns rounded off an excellent league campaign with victory against Spennymoor Ash Tree.

Andrew Bowes scored twice while Paul Garnett and Michael Barker added the others in a 4-2 win.

The win took Toft Hill to 68 points from a season in which they only lost twice in the league.

The club finished eight points clear of Newton Aycliffe Big Club in the Wear Valley league’s second division.

Gainford Cross Keys concluded their season in disappointing fashion, losing 3-0 at home to Newton Aycliffe Sports.

It meant Gainford finished fifth in the league on 46 points.

Staindrop, who finished their season last week, were third on 50 points.

In the first division, champions Witton Park defeated West Auckland Club 4-1.

The season will conclude when Witton Park take on second placed Middlestone Moor Mason’s Arms on Thursday.

Crook and District League

A WIN for first division champions Middlestone Moor Mason’s Arms against Heighington means Barnard Castle Glaxo Rangers will play in the top tier next season.

Heighington needed the three points to move ahead of Glaxo and send them down, but they lost 4-1.

Bowes will bring the curtain down on the season when they visit Darlington Travellers Rest tonight (Wednesday, May 15).
