Richard Hinton was presented wih the trophy for the men’s club champion for the first time after winning a five-man 18-hole playoff for the title.

A trophy was also presented to Richard and his playing partner Ross Murray who won the John Hinton Trophy, a competition in honour of Richard’s father, to cap off an emotional evening for the Hinton family.

The evening was hosted by Craig Hamilton who has played a large part in maintaining the success of the club since Martyn Stubbings’ departure from the role of head professional in 2022.

In other awards, it was successful evening for Ross Murray and Craig Hamilton as they picked up five and four trophies respectively. The highlight for Hamilton was being presetned with the Summersome Cup which he won with partner Mick Brown.

Next year’s captain Graham West spoke about the evening: “It’s been a great night, there were more than 80 people here, all the trophies have been awarded to the men’s and ladies’ sections and everyone seems to have enjoyed it.”

When asked about taking over as captain he said: “I’m very excited, the pressure’s on but we’ve got a great course, great membership and the club is only heading in one direction.”

With new head professional Peter Hartley taking over in January, 2024 is expected to be an even more prosperous year for the club.
