Diamond Inn sparkles to claim summer pool title

CHAMPIONS: The Diamond Inn team from left

Teesdale Summer Pool League, sponsored by Ace Taxis
THE Diamond Inn, Butterknowle, were crowned as champions of Teesdale Summer Pool League, sponsored by Ace Taxis, after rising to the top of the table after a strong showing in the second half of the season.
After reaching the top spot, the team never looked like relinquishing the lead to their rivals.
After leading the pack for the first two-thirds of the season, the Cricketer’s Arms, Barnard Castle, had to settle for the runners-up spot after a poor second half of the season cost them, as they were unable to hold off the Diamond Inn’s charge to the title and finished five points behind their rivals.
Third place went to Bowes Social Club A who finished four points behind the Cricketer’s Arms after spending all season in the chasing pack.
A point further back in fourth place were the Moorcock Inn, Eggleston, who held off fifth place finishers, Bowes Social Club B, by virtue of frame difference.
