WITH newly refurbished tables, this year’s finalists in the summer knock-out competition at the Teesdale Wanderers Snooker Club enjoyed first class playing conditions.

Competing for the Cyril Young trophy, David Dye took first place with a 3-1 victory against Lawrence Wood. The match was level after the first two frames but David potted his way to victory by winning the third and fourth frames.

The “plate” was won by Joshua Normanton 2-1 against Jonathan Staley.

This was a thrilling match with both players seemingly not afraid to take on difficult shots.

The match was finally won in the third frame with a re-spotted black. It doesn’t get any closer than this.

Jonathan is one of the club’s junior members and regularly makes it to the finals. He is definitely a player to watch out for in the future.

The highest break prize was shared between David Dye and Colling Morris, who each had a break of 28.

Twelve players took part in this event which was once again kindly sponsored by Ken Coats.

The club’s competitions are structured to cater for players of all ages and abilities. To find out how you could join in or to just come along and enjoy a frame or two with like-minded people, contact the secretary at teesdalewander [email protected],
