Dale charity helps kit out Middleton-in-Teesdale school football team

GOING FOR GOAL: Andrew and Nigel Mitchell with Middleton-in-Teesdale School pupils sporting their new football kit

PUPILS from a dale primary school are sporting a new football strip, thanks to the donation by a local charity.

Children at Middleton-in-Teesdale Primary School have been given the gear after receiving a donation from the Stephen Mitchell Memorial Fund and they proudly showed it off in the their first matches of the season.

The charity was set up by Nigel and Andrew Mitchell following the death of their brother Stephen, who ran the ironmongers in Middleton-in-Teesdale, eight years ago.

Each year the family runs a fundraising shoot at their farm and then give the money away to local good causes.

To date, the fund has given away more than £30,000.

Vicky Oliver, from Middleton-in-Teesdale Primary School, said: “It’s absolutely fantastic. We’d had the old kit for about ten years.

“The new kit is great and the kids love it. We play in the league and what’s brilliant is we’ve now got the school logo on it.

“We’re just so grateful and hope we can make them proud.”
