Cup success at the double for Staindrop

CUP DOUBLE: Staindrop Wheatsheaf FC celebrate after winning the Allan Rusk Shield

Football
STAINDROP Wheatsheaf FC rounded off the stop-start 2020-21 season in fine style, bagging two trophies.
The team plays in the Darlington Sunday Morning Invitation League and defeated Middleton Rangers 5-0 to claim the League Cup.
Adam Lee-Shield scored a hat-trick, with the other goals coming from Harrison Saunders and Jake Sowerby, while Lewis Robinson was man-of-the-match.
The side followed up by winning the Allan Rusk Shield after victory against Darlington Slater’s Arms 2-1 thanks to goals from Jamie McDougall and Adam Lee-Shield.
Since grass roots football resumed in April after the winter Covid restrictions, Staindrop went unbeaten and haven’t lost a home game since last August.
