Bowls: On-form John takes Farrer Singles trophy

WELL PLAYED: John Walker

Barnard Castle Bowls Club
Farrer Singles

TWENTY-four members gathered to contest the trophy in the usual two group round robin format.
In perfect bowling conditions players toiled through four games of five ends, looking for the maximum eight points that would take them into the final.
Once all the cards were in and all the hard luck stories listened to, it was Michael Littlefair from group one, with seven points, and John Walker from group two, with eight points, who met in the final.
This was scheduled to be over five ends but with John sneaking a single on the first four ends and the players using three bowls each Michael was in a no win situation and graciously conceded.
