Bowls: Five-star Frank takes President’s Shield

BOWLED OVER: Frank Ashmore

Barnard Castle Bowls Club
President’s Shield

PLAYING a four-bowl round robin format consisting of five games of four ends, 23 players competed in two groups aiming for the maximum ten points which would take them into the final.
From group one, John Walker booked his place in the final for the second week running, taking on Frank Ashmore, who represented group two.
Frank took a single on the first two ends and two shots on the third which meant John needed all four on the last end to force an extra end.
It wasn’t to be and Frank snuck another shot to give him the title 5-0.
