Bowes Hutchinson’s team strides in new kit thanks to dad/sponsor

NEW STRIP: Businessman and coach Jason Williams with the newly kitted out Bowes Hutchinson's football team of Luke

BOWES Hutchinson’s Primary School football team are running onto the field in new kit thanks to sponsorship from a village businessman who also happens to be their coach.

Jason Williams, who runs Jason Williams Garage Services in Newgate, Barnard Castle, started helping the team about two years ago.

Mr Williams, whose sons Luke and Josh attend the school, said: “It started as parent help providing transport to and from matches.”

The team has come on quite a lot since then and they came fourth out of eight teams in a recent tournament at Staindrop.

Teacher Chris Scaithe said the team plays several seven-a-side tournaments each year.

He added: “We rotate captaincy so they each experience the responsibility.”

The team was due to run out in their new kit for the first time at Woodland Primary School but it was called off due to the rain.
