All conquering Barnard Castle U8s win the title

CHAMPIONS: The Barnard Castle FC U8s

THERE were smiles all round on Sunday when Barnard Castle FC U8s ended their season on a high, having won 100 per cent of their games.

Securing their final victory at home to Seaton Carew, at Green Lane School, the Barney lads secured the top spot in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance, Durham Red Division.

Racking up an impressive 18 for 18 wins, the youngsters scored a total of 105 goals, kept five clean sheets and only conceded 20 goals through the season.

Team coach Martin Robinson, said: “It has been a great season. They have shown resilience and they have been behind in some games and then come back. They’ve all had a great attitude and we’re all really proud.”

The team have one final game to their season, the cup final, when they will be hoping to maintain their impressive form. They will play away to Rockcliffe on Sunday, May 19.
