RACING AHEAD: James Pearson pieces together his Lego racing car TM pic

CHILDREN attending a workshop at The Bowes Museum during the half-term enjoyed playing with Lego while learning new skills.

Museum volunteer Oli Welham had the youngsters and their parents creating racing cars with Lego bricks, which, when connected via Bluetooth to a tablet device, could be programmed to do a range of things.

At the end of the session the various teams raced their cars against each other.

Mr Welham said the sessions aimed to use the creative arts to improve the children’s ability in their science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects.
