Young worship team leads harvest festival

WHAT'S IN A WORD? Class Wear delivered a clever presentation about what harvest meant to them by re-arranging letters from the word harvest to create new words like eat

THE parable of the sower was the theme for Gainford Primary School’s annual harvest festival.
In welcoming family members to the festival, vicar Revd Canon Eileen Harrop said the service had reached a new milestone as the school’s young leaders would be delivering the message for the first time.
The school has been working with youth, children and families missioner Claire Mead to create a collective worship team.
Leaders of the team Ava, Archie, Emelia, Emily and Becky acted out the parable and gave their thoughts about its meaning. The also led prayers at the end of the service. Class Swale gave a presentation on the theme “From Farm To Table” and showed off art and bread they had made
Class Wear came up with an ingenious interpretation of What Harvest Means To Us by using only the letters in the word harvest to create new words such as eat, starve, rest and share.
The festival concluded with the vicar delivering a blessing to everyone who attended.
Donations of food collected at the festival will be shared between Butterwick Hospice Care and The Well foodbank.
