Young people can get a grant of £250 towards the travel and transport costs for further education and training

UTASS (Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services) is inviting applications from local young people for support towards travel and transport expenses associated with accessing further education and training.
Thanks to funding from Middleton-in-Teesdale Educational Foundation, Utass is accepting applications from young people for a maximum grant of £250 towards the travel and transport costs associated with accessing further education and training, which could include, but is not limited to; college, university, apprenticeships or other practical training.
Young people must be between the ages of 16 and 21 years on September 1 and ideally living in the parish of Middleton-in-Teesdale (including Newbiggin), however applications will also be accepted from young people living in the parishes of Holwick, Forest-in-Teesdale, Eggleston and Lunedale. Applicants must be planning on accessing further education or training between September 2022 and July 2023.
Speaking of the funding, Bob Danby, Utass manager, said: “We know how much the rising costs of transport and travel is concerning for many families.
“With young people from upper Teesdale having to travel significant distances to access further education, we hope that this financial support will help reduce the pressure for some of our local families, whilst helping young people improve their future career prospects. Sadly, we will be unable to support everyone who applies so are asking all applicants to explain as well as they can, the difference that this funding could make to them in terms of the education and training they will be able to access.”
Applications are to be submitted by 5pm on Thursday, August 25 2022 via the following link; https://forms.office.com/r/MxXwvqKwS1 or paper forms can be requested from and returned to the Utass office in Middleton-in-Teesdale. If you need any further information or would like to be emailed a link to the application form please contact Grace Crawford at Utass on 01833 641010 or email grace
