World Book Day – St Mary’s RC Primary unveils new library

THUMBS UP: Right

ST MARY’S Primary School, in Barnard Castle, centred its World Book Day celebration around their new library.

Headteacher Lesley Box said: “Literally, during the half term we had a new library built in the atrium.”

She added that pupils were being encouraged during World Book Day to make the most of the library and were taking part in a sponsored read-a-thon.

Cash raised by the event will help buy books for the school as well as for children who are in hospital so that they can have something to read while they recover.

Ms Box said: “It is a nice link to lent as well because we are a Roman Catholic school. So we are giving up time to give to others.”
