A GROUP of German students dropped by at Staindrop Academy to learn more about school life in the dale.
Year nine language pupils welcomed the 30 visitors from Markgrafen Gymnasium, Karlsruhe, in south west Germany.
Following a tour of the school and lunch in the dining hall, the teens took part in sports activities including handball and cricket.
They also enjoyed a picnic on the school field.
Visiting teacher, Cornelia Nair, said: “Our students have the chance to see the school and how their school is different.
“The tour around the school helps our students get an idea of what British schools are like.
“They are always curious. They also have the chance to apply the language.”
German student, Lucy Binder, added: “It is good here.
“It is different to our school because we don’t have separate classrooms for different subjects.
“The teachers move and come to us. We don’t have a canteen.
“We have to eat at home or in the town.”
