Water-themed party time for pre-school children

COMMUNITY GIFT: Green Lane Nursery's business manager Jemma Fletcher receives goodies from Morrisons' community champion Gillian Robinson. Below

CHILDREN who missed out on their usual sports day have been compensated with two fantastic water-themed parties.

Thanks to the generosity of Morrisons, pupils from Green Lane Nursery and Pre-School enjoyed playing in splash pools, bubble machines and water slides for two days in the run up to the summer holidays.

Business manager of the school Jemma Fletcher said: “We had to cancel our sports day so we decided to have an outdoor water fun day. Basically, it is our end of term party. Morrisons has helped us out massively and we are really grateful.”

The equipment was provided through Morrisons community champion Gillian Robinson’s half-yearly community budget. Treats and goodies were also handed out through the scheme.

Ms Robison said: “It is fantastic for the children, especially after the 18 months they have had.

“It was wonderful to see them so happy – they were squealing with delight.”

Some 55 children across the school’s two Covid-19 bubbles took part in the fun and games.
