Tuning up for an evening of carols by candlelight

DALE PERFORMANCE: The new-look Carillon choir

A CAROLS by canglelight concert will take place in Staindrop featuring three choirs.

The event is happening at St Mary’s Church on Saturday, December 15, at 7.30pm.

Performing will be Carillon, Concordia and the community choir No Added Sugar.

Choir director Jane Ford said she was delighted that St Mary’s is hosting this year’s concert, which has been made possible by the support of Equus Leathers.

Ms Ford said: “In particular, this has ensured that there will be toilet facilities available – an important factor to consider when there are nearly 60 singers and more than 100 audience members in the church.

“The programme for the evening will include a wide range of carols – traditional favourites as well as some more unusual pieces and, of course, opportunities for the audience to join in.

“Wine, soft drinks and mince pies will be available during the interval and, as in previous years, the church will be lit by candles and festive lights ensuring a wonderful festive setting for this ever popular event.”

For Carillon, it will be the first concert featuring new members Nicky Tulloch, Rosanna Whitton and Mike Drew. Tickets cost £8 and are available from Staindrop Post Office or by phoning 01833 650034.
