Tree planting kicks off celebrations for Queen

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN: Chris Gillings

A TEESDALE village is already starting to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee.
Mickleton Parish Council has bought a “beautiful” bird cherry tree, which was planted last week. Spokes-woman Angela Gillings said: “This should give it sufficient time to settle in before the end of the tree planting season in March.”
A plaque will be unveiled at a special event on June 4, with the details still to be decided. On June 2, Mickleton will start the four-day bank holiday weekend by lighting a new beacon to join thousands of others across the UK and Commonwealth. Then there will be a carnival and street party at the village hall on Saturday, June 4.
